If your power levels have surpassed the limits of the factory top mount intercooler, then it may be time to upgrade to one of PERRIN’s Front Mount Intercooler Kits. The PERRIN Front Mount Intercooler Kits are perfect for those who have either gone full tilt and have a built block with a rotated kit, or if you have full bolt-on modifications such as injectors, turbo-back exhaust and increased boost. The heart of this kit put focus on the core. The core’s job is to provide sufficient cooling to the engine, and instead of the common ¼” bar and plate size, PERRIN fabricate the intercooler core to have a 3/8” bar and plate design to provide a better air path for lower ambient air temperatures. This particular core measures 28” long X 9.25” tall X 3.5” deep with a volume of 906.5 cu.-in. Before release, PERRIN pressure tests all intercooler cores to 50 PSI on their special jigs to make sure each core is leak-free and ready for power.
Included to support the intercooler is a super strong support beam made from boxed steel, and it has been powder-coated black.
Other features of the core are cast end tanks designed to control and disperse hot air across the intercooler core. This particular core eliminates the conventional 90° corners by adding a smooth top section that tapers from the top to the bottom to reduce turbulence.
Moving onto the intercooler pipes, these are high-grade CNC mandrel bent aluminum pipes that are 2.25” in diameter. These pipes will come power-coated in a nice textured black or red option for extra protection against corrosion, and to add a nice touch to the engine bay. Additionally, the cold side pipes have been designed to be mounted as high as possible to clear most turbo and intake combinations. These pipes will also come with a BOV flange with a factory adapter to host the factory or aftermarket style BOV. Silicone couplers will be included, as well as the provided clamps to make for a ready installation.
Also included with this kit is an upgraded washer fluid tank, as well as a new coolant reservoir. These are re-designed units also made from high-grade aluminum and both powder-coated black to provide a cleaner look in the engine bay that goes along well with the intercooler pipes.
